AudioPal: Click. Speak. Communicate.
AudioPal.com is a great site for students to make audio recordings that can be easily embedded into a website, blog, or social network. This site has many advantages and allows for students to record audio clips via cell phone, computer keyboard, computer microphone, or they can upload already existing audio clips from their hard drive. The sample below was recorded by a student pretending to be Thomas Jefferson. The assignment was to make believe you are an important person in American History. Your objective was to leave a voicemail to one of your contemporaries stating relevant facts and posing questions that relate to the Virginia Standards of Learning. This created an enthusiastic, and modern take on the Revolutionary Era. To listen to the sample below, just click on the play button.
Too Late To Apologize
Get the Flash Player to see this player.
A teacher from a neighboring county just sent me this video. It does a good job of outlining the colonists reasons for American Independence and is based on One Republic’s hit song “Apologize”.
Google Earth and the 13 colonies
Using Google Earth 5, the student will highlight the three main colonial regions on the globe and identify where each of original 13 colonies were located. They will also explain at least one political, economic, social, or religious factor that was practiced in each particular region. This activity can be easily differentiated depending on the ability level of the children you teach. Listed below is a sample .kmz file, the student directions, rubric, and research template. Cash Cab Review Game
Ms. Hedstrom, a teacher at L. Douglas Wilder Middle School, had requested that I make her a review game based on Discovery Channel’s hit game show “Cash Cab”. The premise is fairly simple; correctly answer as many questions as possible before arriving at your destination and earn cash. If you answer questions incorrectly you will have to step out of the cab empty handed. This is a power point template that can be manipulted once it is downloaded. Please feel free to leave a comment if you have a question or request.
